PRESSURE SAND FILTERS
   
INTRODUCTION
Filtration of water for removal of suspended impurities is a integral step in the treatment scheme for various applications.  Filtration is also an important treatment step for Ion Exchange Systems for protecting the Ion Exchange Resin from Physical fouling due to suspended impurities present in water & system became effective for using such kind of pre-treatment.

DESCRIPTION
The ENVIROX Pressure Filters consists essentially of a steel pressure vessel.  It is fitted internally with a water collecting system and a distribution system for raw water.  The Filter Media comprised of different layers of gravels, coarse , fine silica sand and anthracite is supported on either a steel plate (up to 1200 mm dia) on to which are  screwed strainers or on a header pipes with laterals covered with big size pebbles, to prevent loss of fine Silica Sand.

• The unit is fitted with all piping and valves up to the raw inlet and filtered water outlet lines.
• The waste effluents are directed to a drain sump for which a pipe to drain should be connected.

FILTER MEDIA
The under bed material  for the filter consists of two layer of gravels, one layer of  coarse  silex, one layer of fine sand and one layer of anthracite media in bigger size filters where pipe header with laterals are provided.  In smaller size filters only coarse,  fine sand and anthracite media is provided because of strainer plate onto which PVC strainers are fitted.  

Available in different sizes and capacity ranges from 5 cum. to 175 cum. per hour rate of flow.  For best designing of suitable filter, provide complete detail as per below:

• Flow rate through filter
• Feed water quality ( Turbidity & Suspended solids )
• Application of treated water

ACTIVATED CARBON FILTERS

INTRODUCTION

Absorption and removal of various organic impurities and residual chlorine from water is a integral step in the treatment scheme for various applications. Filtration through activated carbon bed become an important treatment step for Ion Exchange Systems for protecting the Ion Exchange Resin from Physical & organic fouling due to presence of organic impurities and residual chlorine present in water. After installation of carbon filter Water Softener or DM Water Plants become more effective as Ion Exchange Resins treat water with more accuracy. The Activated Carbon Filters are more commonly used by the Food Processing & Beverages Industries where water play a essential role in making quality products like mineral water, soft drinks or juices.

The supporting bed media and activated carbon are placed on either a steel plate (up to 1200 mm dia) on to which are  screwed strainers or on a header pipes with lateral pipes covered with big size pebbles, to prevent loss of fine carbon media.

• The unit is fitted with all piping and valves from the water inlet and to treated water outlet.
• The waste effluents are directed to a drain sump for which a pipe to drain should be connected.

FILTER MEDIA & CARBON BED
The under bed material for the filter consists of two layer of gravels & coarse silex.  In big size filters where pipe header is provided one layer of big size gravels covering the header pipe must be provided (see internal arrangements of drawing.)
The gravels should be washed thoroughly with water and should be free from dirt, dust or sand.
